Pets put you in training for kids

Category: PersonalRory Primrose @ 14:56

I have heard quite a few times that pets are supposed to be good training for people who will have kids some time in the future. I think we had a moment like that yesterday.

My wife came home and drove her car into the garage. One of our cats walked in to the garage and decided that it wanted to get on top of the car, so it jumped. He almost made it. In an attempt to salvage what he could from his effort, he did what any cat would do. Unfortunately, claws don't come with a guarantee to provide grip on all surfaces.

We are the proud owners of a car with two new sets of claw scratches down one of the panels.

If this is training, kids must do some seriously bad stuff. What's the worst your kids have done? For that matter, what's the worst you've done as a kid?

Hey Rory, but just think...

...did your cat start crying after he did the damage? And try to say sorry because he *knew* how mad you were? And did he preface the jump with "watch this daddy"?

And after all this happened, did you realise how funny the whole event was (and every time you look at the damage, start to giggle)?

That's my take on "when good kids do bad stuff" Smile

He he, kids are *so* worth it!

I think it would have been better if my cat did have all those other responses. Alas...

Here's another one. Does you kid ever home things that shouldn't be brought inside?

One of our boys has a desire to provide for the family which is a nice thought, but we don't really want what they bring home. Sometimes it is a mouse, sometimes a bird, sometimes dead, sometimes alive.

Last night it was a small field mouse which was still trying to run away. Good thing he understood that I wanted him to take his food outside.
